Last year, PETA conducted an undercover investigation of a turkey farm in West Virginia and documented horrifying animal abuse. The video is so nauseating that I could not get past the first couple minutes, but I do know that it shows workers heartlessly abusing the turkeys before slaughter. These backwoods miscreants kick and punch innocent animals just to pass the time. Disgusting.
I’m not trying to discourage people from eating turkey this Thanksgiving, but I am asking you to consider what happens before any stuffed and basted animal ends up on your dining room table. It might make them slightly less appetizing.

I’ve seen PETA videos, but never, ever something like this. I knew people could be this cruel, but not to animals, and not with such disgusting insouciance. This is without a doubt one of the most vile things I’ve ever seen since I was born. And I’ve seen some vile things. That riverboat scene in Willy Wonka is scary as shit if you’re a little kid. But it took me a few minutes to recover from this video before I could comment. You didn’t get to the end. There are people cutting off the sensitive areas of hens’ beaks with pliers.
The less humane we are, the more apparent our humanity becomes.

Yes, I was tempted to bust out my dictionary for that one, but I didn’t. I will be surprised if you ever use that word in a spoken sentence though.
